Portable Saunas Or Saunas On The Go

A portable sauna is ideal for anyone who wants a sauna on the go. The far portable sauna is easy to store. There are two types of portable sauna. The first type is a foldable sauna. This as the name suggests folds open and closed. This fir portable sauna is a fabric-encased box that you zip yourself into

This type of portable sauna can be set up in minutes. It takes about fifteen minutes to get to the optimal temperature. This type of sauna looks like a small tent. Your head can pop out the top. The operating cost is extremely low, and runs at about 5cents for every 30 minutes used. You can take this sauna with you when you travel.

This portable sauna uses infrared technology. This once again makes you sweat at which time cleanses the body from the inside out. The only drawback I see with this type of sauna is the fact that your face and head are not in the sauna itself. You don’t get the real sauna experience.

The second type of portable sauna is a pre-built unit. These types of sauna are two or three piece units that can be put together very quickly. The look and feel is the similar to that of a regular sauna. Once again the pre-built sauna uses the infrared technology. All you have to do is plug it into an outlet.

The advantages of sauna use are many. A sauna is good for blood circulation. The infrared sauna keeps your skin supple. The sauna also helps to promote relaxation.

Maintenance should not be an area of worry with a sauna. The amount of maintenance required for either a traditional or infrared sauna is very little if any. The only real maintenance needed is to wipe down the walls and benches every so often with a mild solution of water and soap. Regular sauna maintenance is like maintaining any other room in your house. In actual fact saunas are easier to maintain than most bathrooms.

Owning a traditional sauna requires more maintenance than that of an infrared sauna.
The one thing to avoid in a sauna is chemical cleaners. The residues from these cleaners may be released when the sauna is heated. This can cause unpleasant smells and in extreme cases it may affect your breathing. Most of the maintenance needs to be done in a preventative manner. Since the goal of the sauna is to sweat out toxins, what you need to do is provide towels for people to sit on. Providing the towels helps to maintain the wood.

In most cases the infrared sauna is fully portable, which requires no installation, no ventilation, no water, and as a result very little maintenance. The traditional sauna heats the air, whereas far infrared heater heats only 20 percent of the air, this leaves 80 percent of the heat available to directly heat the occupants of the sauna. With the traditional sauna heating the air you may need to adjust the wooden door of the sauna due to swelling. This can happen because of the humidity.

If you are thinking of going out and buying a sauna for your home you need not worry about the possible maintenance involved. Saunas are one of the most carefree areas of your home.

While saunas have been around for a long time, only recently have Americans re-discovered the health benefits of saunas in spas, retreats, and eventually, at home. Many benefits can come from regular use of a sauna, i.e.

Health Benefits

Helps to relieve stress, tension, and fatigue

Increases resistance to illness such as the common cold/hyper-thermia boosts immune response

Increases metabolism & promotes weight loss by burning 300 or more calories in 30 minutes

Improves circulation and promotes cardiovascular wellbeing

Helpful skin care: adjunct in treating common skin ailments such as acne, eczema, psoriasis and cellulite

Helps with Pain relief related to illnesses like arthritis, fibromyalgia, vascular disease, chronic pain, sports injury

Instrumental in the healing process of physical injuries

Useful in relieving allergic symptoms and sinus congestion

Aids insomniacs by promoting sleep

May be useful in drug rehabilitation and detoxification as toxins and impurities are expelled in perspiration (eg. lead and mercury poisoning)

May be beneficial to kidney functions

Other Benefits

Increases property value

Low maintenance requirement

Which Type of Sauna Is Best for You: Wet or Dry?

The more standard US sauna for home and spa uses steam from water over hot rocks. However, up-to-date sauna technology ~ which is behind today’s portable sauna ~ uses non-steam heat. Both ceramic sauna heaters and electrical sauna heaters supply dry heat without steam. But even today, the traditional wet heat sauna kits are still available and popular.

The health benefits are different for each type of sauna ~ which is probably the more important consideration.
E.g. infrared saunas have excellent detoxification properties. Infrared saunas take the detoxifying load off your liver and kidneys by the direct elimination of toxins through the skin. Two to three times more sweat is produced in the far infrared sauna than is possible in traditional hot air saunas. Greater detoxification of heavy metals is achieved, including: lead, mercury, aluminum, cadmium, and fat-soluble toxins.

On the other hand, a steam room is said be particularly helpful for people with breathing troubles. So, the health benefits you are after should indicate which type of sauna you will enjoy most in your home for your own use.

If however you want to install a sauna to increase your property value or at least to gain an edge over competing properties, then perhaps it is useful to know that compared to a steam sauna room, it is easier to use an infrared sauna or other dry sauna at home. You can use a mobile unit and less modifications are required to your home to accommodate it. However, ease of installation should not be your main consideration when purchasing a sauna for your own personal use, of course.

Disclaimer by author & ownhomestyle.com: check with your own health care provider/doctor to see if sauna therapy is suitable for you and if there are any personal restrictions you should be aware of.

Continuation of the article by
Pat

The installation of crown molding cannot be made any easier than with peel and stick. Peel and stick comes in kits of plastic molding pieces which have self-adhesive backs and four outside corners. Peel and stick is available for the really low-tech, low cost way to decorate. No power tools, saws, nails or hammers are required. No mitering of corners is necessary. One person can install it in no time with no trouble.

Peel and stick, though, especially due to its low-tech and low cost, lacks relief. That is, there is no depth or thickness and it will appear flat.

Styrofoam, also called Expanded Polystyrene., has been used for many years by architects on buildings, homes and in museums. Styrofoam crown molding is light weight, durable and versatile, inexpensive, and adhesive to most kinds of paint. Other advantages and reasons for its gain in popularity are that it requires no special tools to install, and in fact can be installed in less than a day by the average homeowner. Styrofoam does not rot, crack, decay or succumb to insect damage. It can however melt or burn when exposed to flame and must be encased, as it will release toxic fumes when burning.

Another material that is finding its way into popularity is vinyl. Vinyl crown molding gives that old plaster look. While traditional plaster and wood crown molding require extensive experience, the advantage to using vinyl is its simplicity. It is low maintenance, does not blister or peel, swell or shrink when used in extreme moisture conditions, and will not rust, rot, pit or corrode and will not be attacked by insects.

This is an article about all the safety features built in to every water heater in order to avert any possible danger. This article also gives safety tips in case you work on a water heater.

Homeowners love to save time and hassle and may be able to when it comes to working on a water heater. However, there are many circumstances and situations which require the help of a plumbing professional. If you’re handy and comfortable with mechanics, then some situations involving water heaters can be handled by you.

Before doing plumbing work you must perform these safety steps:

Turn the electricity off if you have an electric water heater or turn the gas control knob to PILOT if you have a gas water heater.

Find the cold water line on top of the water heater and turn the gate valve off. The cold line is always located on the right hand side as you face the water heater.

Open a hot tap inside the house at any sink. This relieves pressure on the lines.

Twist the knob on the drain valve to open it on the water heater. It’s located at the bottom of the water heater and looks like a hose bib. Drain out a gallon of water from the water heater, so it’s not completely full at the plumbing connections on top.

Tell everyone in the house or building to use cold water only.

Whenever removing electric elements on an electric water heater, be sure that the electricity is turned off.

Whenever replacing the drain valve on a gas or electric water heater, be sure to turn the gas control knob to PILOT or to turn the electricity off.

Check the gas connections on your gas water heater by spraying liquid glass cleaner on them. If you have a gas leak. The glass cleaner will spit and foam slightly if you have a gas leak.

At this point you need to be careful that the gas fumes do not backdraft into the house. When the gas fumes from a gas water heater travel up and out the draft diverter on top of the gas water heater, they go to the outside of your house through a vent. The fumes can sometimes be pulled back into a chimney flue, an open window, or an air conditioner. If you smell rotten eggs inside of your house, call a plumber or the gas company immediately.

If you are insulating your pipes for your water heater, do not cover dielectric unions, fittings, or copper flex lines. The insulation will cause the water to stay on the surface underneath and cause more damage from leaky pipes. Never put insulation on the tin draft diverter located above the gas water heate. The insulation can ignite.

If you know you have a recirculating loop for you water heater, it is a good idea to have a ball valve before the point where the loop connects to you water heater. If you have any type of pump located on this line, have a plumbing professional install a ball valve before the pump also.

Again, if you are not certain of your ability to work on a water heater in any way, get a professional service technician to help you.
