Amenities are extra things the apartment complex provides to make living there more comfortable and more enjoyable. If a complex has many amenities, you should expect to pay more rent. When comparing apartments, you should consider the amenities, not just the rent!
The amenities on a rental property may often be the deciding factor for many tenants. The available amenities may make a less affordable property look more attractive. Conversely a property which is more expensive possibly considered worthwhile if the amenities offered are considered valuable enough to compensate for the higher cost.
